History

The Eddie Guardado Foundation was established by Major League All-Star Pitcher, Eddie Guardado and his wife Lisa in 2008. The Eddie Guardado Foundation is a public foundation and is currently awaiting its 501 (c) 3 non-profit certification, so all donations will be fully tax deductible.

“Because of Eddie’s career we’ve been blessed with the resources to get our daughter Ava the therapy and treatment she really needs. We also know that’s just not the case for the vast majority of families out there affected by Autism. So we started this foundation with the idea that we could help the people that needed it the most. We are so grateful to those who share our concern and have expressed their desire to make a small difference in peoples’ lives.”
- Lisa Guardado, Co-founder

Who We Help

The Eddie Guardado Foundation through Ava’s Friends, funds individual families affected by Autism by reducing their out of pocket expenses for therapy and treatment. We also join with other similar groups in lobbying Washington as well as State governments on behalf of these families in the hopes that more can be done through MediCare and private insurance to see that every child with Autism can get equal access to proven treatments.

How we Help

The Eddie Guardado Foundation identifies families in emotional or financial distress through applications submitted to us by the families themselves. Grants from the Foundation provide direct relief to families offsetting costs from existing care providers or providing access to care they’ve never been able to afford. Each case is different and each family’s situation is evaluated on its own merit.

The Foundation raises funds for grants through special events, corporate partnerships and individual donations.

We are continually grateful to all of the dedicated volunteers, corporate sponsors, in-kind and individual donors that help make a difference for so many families affected by Autism.
